Cesar Manrique Foundation
Not far from Costa Teguise, the Cesar Manrique Foundation gives you the opportunity to walk around the house of Lanzarotes most famous residents - Cesar Manrique.
The house was built in 1968 on the site of a volcanic trail left by an eruption that occured during the period of 1730 - 1736. The house is sculpted from five volcanic 'bubbles' that make up the main rooms of the the property.
Why is Cesar Manrique so important to Lanzarote?
If you have been to Lanzarote, or you are planning to visit, you will probably have heard the name Cesar Manrique mentioned on a few occasions. Cesar Manrique helped shape the island into what it is today. Thanks to him we can enjoy an island that is unspoilt by high-rise buildings or billboard advertising, and all buildings have to be painted white. His contemporary art can also be found evident across the island. To visit the Cesar Manrique Foundation you will need to hire a car or book on an organised coach trip.
