Guinate Tropical Park
The Guinate Tropical Park is located in the north of Lanzarote, in the provence of Haria. The park is located at the foot of the extinct volcano Mount Corona.
The Park is set in around 11 acres of tropical gardens and is home to a wide range of birds, animals, reptiles and fish. Our favourites at the park have to be the Meerkats - real characters who like to sit and soak up the sun, just like the tourists!
With over 1,300 exotic birds and animals and over 25,000 m2 of free flying walk through and enclosed aviaries. This is fantastic opportunity to get up close and walk freely amongst the tropical bird species.
There is a spectacular 3,200 sq meter walk through filled with a stunning range of exotic birds, streams, waterfalls and Koi Carp.
This tranquil bird park is beautifully landscaped garden and walking paths, surrounded by beautiful trees and flowering plants. A slow, relaxing walk within the bird park is recommended
The penguin pool is a major attraction to the park where the people can study amazing underwater life behaviours of these birds in the underwater viewing pools, great at feeding time. The young behaviors penguins – all aged a year and half or less – are the new star attractions at the park. Penguins are usually associated with colder climates – such as the Antarctic. But this particular species is in fact well suited to the Canaries.
Also the Meerkats den is a very popular place for the public. These meercats were used for the insurance television advert and for the very popular BB2 programme about the life of the meerkat manor . These are just a few of the attractions in the Tropical Park.
The park is open all year round, including Fiestas and Holidays, .from 10am to 5pm. It usually takes around 2 hours to see the entire attraction.
Visit the Guinate Tropical Park Web Site for more information and updates.
If you are staying on the south of the island you will need to book a hire car or excursion to visit the Guinate Tropical Park.
