Los Hervideros

As you head towards El Golfo on the west coast of Lanzarote, you come toan area known as Los Hervideros. At first sight this looks nothing more than a stretch of bizarrely shaped rock formations protruding into the ocean.

The name - Los Hervideros -translates to 'Boiling Waters'

As you watch the sea in action, as it swirls and crashes against the rocks you will see how it seems to be bubbling and boiling in the lava caves, chimneys and arches created by erosion, especially spectacular to watch when the Atlantic is rough and heavy swells roll in, producing pounding spray tossed up several metres in the air with a roaring noise.

Los Hervideros really can be spectacular to watch when the sea is rough - but don't stand too close to the edge. You might get wet!
