Aena Airport Strike threat avoided

Workers Unions and Airport operator Aena has agreed a last minute deal 'in principle' meaning that that it is likely that the strike threat is over.

Airport workers had threatened a series of one day strikes up to the Christmas and New Year period 2017 as they had been calling for pay increases and the presence of more staff.  All 46 Aena operated airports across Spain were under threat of strike action, including Lanzarote.

The deal, which was due to be agreed this afternoon then has to be approved by The Ministry for Development.

News of the new deal will not only fall on welcome ears of Aena employees but 10,000's of holiday makers and business travellers set to fly over the next 3 months.
