St Patrick's Day isn't something that you associate with a Spanish Island just off the coast of Africa, but with the number of Irish who both live on the Island and visit for their holidays, it's actually quite a big deal.
So what's going on on St Patrick's Day?
The main event takes place in the old town harbour in Puerto del Carmen. Here you will find live music and entertainment and of course no shortage of drinks from the numerous beer tents represented by some of the local bars. It's an afternoon and evening of non stop party and locals and tourists are encouraged to wear green to get into the spirit of the celebrations.
If you are looking for something away from the harbour area or you can't get to Puerto del Carmen, most of the Irish themed bars will be putting on some sort of event which will include food and drinks offers and live music and entertainment, with extended opening hours in some bars that would only usually open for the evening.
So don't miss out, drown the shamrock in style and good luck the next day! :-)
