The end of the 15th Century was significant in the cultural development of the Canary Islands with the incorporation of the Castilian Crown. From then Hispanic cultures and traditions spread across the islands.

Lanzarote culture begain in the town of Teguise. Teguise gave birth to various musical instruments which probably signifies the relevance of the amazing concert halls in two of Lanzarotes amazing natural tourist attractions in Jameos del Agua and Ceuva de los Verdes (The Green caves). It is in these very concert halls that the famous Visual Music Festival takes place. The volcanic auditoriums offer amazing acoustics and a truly unique concert experience.


Lanzarote has a very contemporary style of art, heavily influenced by Castillo de San Jose and Cesar Manrique. Indeed, the home of Manrique is a work of art in itself, with examples of his own work sat alongside work from many famous artists from the 20th century.

Lanzarote is home to the Timinfaya National Park, a natural phenomenom created by 5 years of Volcanic activity. Fire Mountain is a must-visit for visitors interested in the islands volcanic history.
