Playa Blanca
Playa Blanca is a popular resort in the south of Lanzarote.
Starting out as a small fishing village, it has been carefully developed into a thriving holiday destination.
Although only a small town, the area surrounding Playa Blanca stretches from the lighthouse at Faro de Pechiguera, right through to Papagayo beaches. You can walk or bike the entire stretch using the coastal footpath - it's a good walk but it can be hard work!
Playa Blanca has been developed around three coves or beaches - Playa Dorada, Playa Blanca and Playa Flamingo. Playa Dorada is a favourite with holiday makers. The beach is protected by a breakwater and has activities such as Banana Boats, pedalos and Jet Skis. Playa Blanca itself, is a small cove in the centre of the town. Whilst also popular this tends to be a favourite for residents of the town. Playa Flamingo is a popular beach and serves the residents of the larger hotels to the west.
Why stay in Playa Blanca?
Playa Blanca has something for everyone. The nightlife is vibrant. There is an extensive selection of restaurants across the sea front and a choice of bars in the main town and Marina Rubicon.
The Marina Rubicon is a purpose built Marina to the east of Playa Blanca. The marina is usually full of yachts and catamarans and is populated with a number of restaurants all offering a different type of cuisine. There are also a few shops in the Marina and it is home to a bi-weekly market that takes place on a Wednesday and Saturday where you can pick up anything from Lanzarote wine to Aloe Vera products.
There are plenty of Car Hire companies in Playa Blanca if you decide to venture away from the town to explore the island. There is also a local bus service which not only services the town but also runs to different towns around the island.
Playa Blanca is also the gateway to Fuerteventura, with regular ferry crossings throughout the day.
Whilst Playa Blanca may seem a little bit more upmarket than Puerto Del Carmen, you can still get some really good deals on all inclusive resorts in Playa Blanca, making it a real Cheap Holiday to Lanzarote.
