Puerto Calero
Officially a resort for the well-to-do, the modern 420 berth Marina at Puerto Calero is the centre peice of an offering of high-end retail boutiques and well presented cafes and restaurants. Over the last few years the resort has expanded with the development of two major hotels, the Hesperia and Costa Calero.
For yacht owners, the purpose built marina is ideal for mooring, with world-class maintenance facilities close at hand.
But don't worry, for those that can't yet afford a luxury yacht, there are other activities on offer such as submarine tours, catamaran excursions and sea fishing. If you fancy something a little more adventurous then you can experience the amazing marine life off the coast of Lanzarote by taking part in a deep sea dive. For those seeking a little bit of education there is a museum dedicated to Whales and Dolphins, which is definitely worth a visit. There is no beach in Puerto Calero, although its the perfect setting for a nice slow walk and a browse around the shops.
There is a slow pace of life that seems to encompass the Marina, which makes it an ideal place to go and relax with a nice cold drink and a sandwich whilst watching the world go by.
The night life in Puerto Calero is refined, so if you are staying in Puerto Calero and looking for something a bit more lively then you will need to visit the neighbouring resort of Puerto del Carmen.
To get to Puerto Calero you need to head towards Yaiza on the LZ2, and take a left turn towards the coast after passing through Macher.
As you drive down the road towards the coastline you can see the main hotels in the resort and it starts to become evident that you are entering a place that is a little bit special.
