Teguise Market

The Teguise Sunday Market is without doubt the best weekly market on Lanzarote and is very popular with the tourists. Once Lanzarotes capital it is now home to a busy Sunday market where you can find stall after stall of arts and crafts, clothes, shoes and cafes.

Teguise MarketVery much a demonstration of culture and an opportunity to socialise, the market at Teguise isn't your average market. Rows of market stallsmeader through the small cobbled streets of the town. Not only is there a huge selection of gifts and products on sale, but also demonstrations of glass blowing and t-shirt painting as products are hand-crafted in front of your very eyes before they go on sale.

New for 2011. A group of Canarian musicians will liven up proceedings at the Sunday Market. This is part of an initiative to attract more visitors to the market. For children there will also be a bird and snake show, along with Donkey rides which are planned to take place near to the windmil.

Parking on market day is no problem. There are a number of car parks around the edge of the town (charging €1.50 as of April 2011) that are no more than 5 minutes walk away from the market.

The market takes place every sunday, usually up until around 2pm.

To visit Teguise Market you will need to hire a car or book on an organised coach trip.
