Puerto Del Carmen

 

Puerto del Carmen is the longest established resort on the island providing tourists with everything from beachside arcades to Casinos and luxury private villas.

Puerto Del Carmen became very popular with the tourists and tourism appeared to outgrow the resort. However the last few years has seen huge investment in an attempt to try and bring the resort up to scratch in terms of infrastructure, with changes and improvements to the roads in and around the town.

 

Like most of the towns in Lanzarote, Puerto del Carmen originated from a small fishing village, and the old harbour is still intact and a a delightful place to visit. It also has some excellent seafood restaurants where you can sit outside and overlook the old harbour.

 

The resort is now a shadow of its former self. It now stretches along the whole 6 kilometres of gorgeous golden sandy beaches.

 

Puerto del Carmen is well known for it's excellent shopping facilities along the beach front and extensive free parking. It is also base to a large number of estate agent.

 

The seafront boasts a number of gift shops and bars and restaurants where you can guarantee to find something that tickles your fancy, be it an Irish Bar, Sports Bar, an English Pub and even a full English Breakfast!

 

Puerto del Carmen is a very popular Lanzarote holiday destination but we find that it isn't for everyone. The invasion of the british has seen many holiday makers stop going to Puerto Del Carmen and head for the more relaxing resorts of Costa Teguise and Playa Blanca.
