Lanzarote Airport

Lanzarote Airport

The airport in Lanzarote is located between Playa Honda and Matagorda and provides an invaluable service to tourism on the island.  In 2016 the airport saw 6,683,966 pass through it's terminals.

The airport itself is small, but modern, and has two passenger terminals.  Terminal One opened in 1999 and  is the larger of the two and services International flights (mainly European) and Terminal Two for inter-island flights connecting Lanzarote to the other Canary Islands.

Terminal One is split into two floors, downstairs for arrivals and upstairs for departures.  The facilities are first class and there are a number of shops and cafes "air-side" for those waiting on departures.    Downstairs, in arrivals, there are a number of car hire and information kiosks, and a cafe at the far end.  A taxi rank can be found immediately outside of arrivals for anyone wanting to make a quick getaway to their resort without a pre-booked transfer or trip on the local bus.

Terminal Two is much smaller with just 3 gates.  There is a cafe in the check-in hall but only vending machines air side.

There is long stay and short stay parking for both terminals which is very reasonability priced.  If you are collecting friends or families then expect to pay between 30 cents and 1 euro for your stay (depending on how long you wait, of course).

WiFi is available in the terminals but subject to you registering for what is advertised as an unlimited service.

Luggage Services

A baggage wrapping service is available by the entrance of the departures hall.

Mobility Assistance

Lanzarote Airport offers free  assistance for passengers with reduced mobility.  We recommend that this is booked in advance, to ensure everything goes smoothly on your arrival.  Call for assistance on 902 404 704 / (+34) 91 321 10 00.

Is smoking permitted in the airport?

There is a smoking deck in departures at the far left hand end of the departures lounge (as you are facing the runway).

Is sleeping permitted in the airport?

If your flight is delayed or for unforeseen circumstances you need to stay over for an extra night, then you would need to leave the airport as sleeping is not permitted.  There are a number of hotels close by and we recommend the Costa Sal Villas and Suites - (5 minutes drive from the airport). A taxi from here typically costs about 12,00€.

Catching the local buses

Both Terminals at Lanzarote airport are served by local bus routes.  Lines 22, 23, 161 and 261, connect the airport to Arrecife, Playa Honda, Playa Blanca and Puerto del Carmen. The local bus fares are very reasonable at and start at €1.40 one-way.
